The Importance of Knowing God’s Word.

Why is it so important to know God’s word? “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:15
You don’t want to be (incomplete) or (ill equipped) when it comes to fighting spiritual warfare do you? Studying a bunch of other things (WILL NOT) make you equipped to fight, knowing where you “came from” i.e. knowing your African roots will not make you equipped to fight. I have seen people put special emphases on knowing your ‘roots’ whatever it may be as though that has any pull when it comes to Spiritual warfare. When somebody tells you that Jesus Christ is the way and you go on about the Europeans and the Bible being only a book written by men etc etc, and you go on about “knowing ones roots” is an example of one thing having nothing to do with the other. And yes the Bible was written by men, but they were men that were inspired (filled and led) by the Holy Spirit of the living God, and nothing they wrote was of personal interpretation, meaning they didn’t write their own opinions or man made religion brought about from worldly wisdom. Those Holy men of God wrote as the Spirit of God moved them and they wrote what the Spirit of God instructed them to write.

It’s the Scriptures alone that is described as what will make a man (thoroughly equipped) for every good work, not T.D Jakes’ books, not Joel Osteen’s books, not Rick Warren’s books, not E.L. James’ books, not any other theological, philosophical or literary work written by man, most who are not even being led by the Spirit of the living God. (*REMINDER* Test every spirit) 1 John 4:1. (Only) the scriptures given by God will make one (THOROUGHLY EQUIPPED) don’t let anyone tell you different. Remember how Jesus overcame the temptations of the enemy, Jesus used the Word of God. The word of God is also the sword of the Spirit, you can’t put on the full armour of God without your sword. There is some serious spiritual warfare going on and the people of God need to be ready, so suit up ya’ll, put on the full armour Ephesians 6:14-18. Crack open those Bibles and ask God open your understanding so that you may comprehend what is written (the way that He meant for it to be understood), not the way you see fit.

More than this and most importantly if you haven’t already, repent of your sins so that you may be baptised in the Holy Spirit being born again becoming a new creature in Christ Jesus. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should be brought to repentance. God is full of mercy and is slow to wrath but don’t take His promises of returning and judging each one according to their works whether good or bad as slack, He is coming with His reward. I hope all, including myself, be ready for His return.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
