Once you’re Jesus’ sheep you’re saved and WILL do everything we are told to do: endure, persevere, be loving, patient, longsuffering, abide by faith, overcome, inherit the promise which is eternal life in Jesus Christ.
Those who are His WILL bear the fruit of the Spirit. God is working all these things in us for His good pleasure. Jesus already said it all, whatever He was able to do we will do and more. We WILL do. He overcame the world and so will His sheep. He learnt obedience through suffering, so will His sheep. He was ressurected from the grave, so will His sheep, eternal life is in Him so if we are His we too will have eternal life. Like John 10:27-29 goes on to say, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” NO ONE can snatch out of Jesus hands what the Father has given to Him. No one! What we have to do is believe it has aleady been done in Jesus, believe.
It is written in Hebrews 10:11-15 “And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.” See that? Jesus (sat down) until the Father makes His enemies His footstool. Did you also see and understand that He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified? That’s showing two very important things we need to grasp if we ever start feeling we can no longer endure. Jesus has (already) perfected those who are (being) sanctified. That verse is presenting a past tense then a present tense; it is sating basically, look it has already been done, those who God is sanctifying (WILL) be perfected. All we have to do is in truth believe ALL of this, that our Lord has done it. When He said it is finished this is what He was talking about. He has done what the Father sent Him to do all we have to do is BELIEVE and abide by faith in Christ Jesus.
Thing is, and I’m speaking to myself on this too, in the midst of any trial we become fearful doubtful, even angry; we basically become everything we’re told not to and that causes us to become forgetful hearers. But we are to cling to hope which Hebrews 6:19 tells us is as an anchor for the soul. Our hope is that we are Christ’s and what He has done we WILL do through Him. Our hope is in the testimony of our Lord that through Him we (WILL) have eternal life. Our hope is that He is faithful and has not left us alone as orphans but has supplied us with a helper, the Holy Spirit. How awesome is that? Not only has Christ Jesus our Lord laid down His life for us so that we could be freed from the bondage of sin and reconciled to our heavenly Father, but He also supplies us with His Holy Spirit to teach abd help us to walk in God’s ways. His love is amazing, He is worthy to be praised and we should praise Him as written in Psalm 150.
Took me a minute but I realized this is why He said be of good cheer when we face tribulation. I never could get how He expected us to do that because for the most part in the midst of tribulation the last thing not on your mind is being of good cheer but I now understand why He said we ought to, and that is because He has overcome the world, and if we go back to what He told the disciples about us being able to do all He did and more, that means we will overcome the world; not maybe, not kind of, not somewhat, not possibly, but we WILL overcome this world once we are in Him, once we are His sheep, once He knows us, but we must endure all the things we will be faced with while we are in the world, while we are in this body waiting for our new one. And the conclusion of all of this is that we WILL ovecome this world because we are Jesus sheep. Even when it seems like we won’t or it’s too hard to, once you of Jesus’ flock no matter what you will endure you will overcome. Remembering that in the midst of trials can help us to bear, this is faith, and by remaining steadfast in the faith we will resist the enemy and he WILL flee, as scripture says. That is something to make us be of good cheer. To God be the glory!!!!
